北馬人的KUK！

今天在看小說時，發現理頭有一張舊剪報 ....所以想和大家分享...

從吉隆坡趕車趕到吉打州的毛毛，想到要找個朋友出來吃飯，就打電話給住在亞羅士打的阿安：" 喂，你吃飽了沒有？"

阿安懶懶的聲音從電話那端傳來："還沒有KUK ！"

又累又餓的毛毛急得不得了，自己的肚子敲鏤打鼓了，問阿安吃飽了沒有，他卻答非所問的說沒有" 谷"（KUK）， "谷"甚麼鬼嘛！

誰說阿安答非所問了，他講還沒有"KUK" 啊！還沒有"KUK"就是還沒有吃飽的意思啦！

慣用銜接語"KUK" 是北馬人慣用的"銜接語" ，意思相等於 "啦"，但是這個 "KUK"卻有一定的 " 用法"，你可不能是不是也 "亂亂 KUK"， "KUK "錯就笑掉人家的大牙了。

這個"KUK" ，最常用在人家問你吃飽了沒有的時候。如果還沒有吃，北馬人十個中會有九個回答說："還沒有 KUK "，他這樣回答是說他還沒有吃的意思。

但是如果已經吃飽了，你要回答："吃飽了 " ，千萬不要自作聰明的說："吃飽KUK " 。都已經吃飽了，還谷甚麼啦！

"KUK"通常都是銜接在 "還沒有"做的事情或 " 還沒有"做的動詞的後面，當作是一種很自然的銜接尾音，比如工作還沒有做好 KUK、對方還沒有回電KUK、還沒有沖涼 KUK 、還沒有來KUK......。

"KUK"雖是常常接在 "還沒有"的後面，但是同時也有另一個意思，表示 "還有"的意思，比如人家問你手上還有工作嗎，如果和有就要答 "有KUK" 、問你盒子里還有糖果嗎。銀行里還有錢嗎、如果還有就可以答："有 KUK "。

勿亂用"KUK"
除此，北馬人回答問題時，如果他答"不要" ，就表示他真的不要，但是，要是他答： "不要KUK" 時，你可得注意了。

舉分例子，如果你切了蘋果，問他要不要吃，他一旦答"不要KUK "，你千萬不要把盤子內的蘋果吃光。

注意哦，他答的是"不要KUK " 而不是"不要 " ，因為北馬人的"不要KUK " 的意思就是現在暫時還不要，等一下才要的意思..... 。

北馬人的一個"KUK" ，就是這樣可以把整個句子的意思扭轉掉，除了北馬人，并非人人都可以輕易"掌握 "到"KUK" 的奧妙之處。

所以不要亂亂用"KUK" ，去講甚麼"我吃飽KUK、我睡醒 KUK、我神經KUK...."KUK到笑死人卻還不知道KUK！

Complementary packages from Hong Kong Tourism Board

I got a card from Poslaju under my house main door when I got home last night. Just wonder what that is...

Went to post office just now and guess what, letters are from Hong Kong Tourism Board.

In the envelope:

1) Letter from HKTB

2) Letter of complementary for 3 nights stay in HK Hotel listed by HKTB

3) Letter of complementary for 1 admission to Disneyland Hong Kong

4) Letter of complementary for 1 admission to Ocean Park including Lunch at restaurant.

5) Letter of complementary for 1 admission to Wetland Park Hong Kong

6) Letter of complementary for 1 pax of Hong Kong Island half day tour package

6) Letter of complementary meal voucher valued HK$500 for meal at Lan Kooi Fong restaurants

7) Letter of complementary for 1 pax round trip visit to Ugong Peng via cable car including HK$50 shopping voucher at the souvenir shop

All complementary vouchers are valid through 1 year until 30th of June 2009.
All complementary vouchers have no cash value and not transferable

The above set of complementary letters is for 1 person; my wife has another set of similar complementary letters. So to say we have doubled the package.

It is impressing that HKTB made such a complementary to recover incident of Tatami Hampton Hotel. The duty of HKTB is to take care of Hong Kong tourism industry, and yes, they are doing it very well.

My wife and I as victims in this incident, we were lost in the strange place when we were asked to leave the hotel at 10:30PM 17 June 2008. I explained to the reporter that I understand the situation where by the fault is not with HKTB nor HK government. All faults should be responsible by the Tatami Hampton Hotel itself.

Hong Kong government apologises to evicted tourists

Hong Kong's government has apologised to tourists who were kicked out of a hotel that was taken over by a city bank due to an unpaid loan.

Dozens of bewildered visitors from across Asia, Australia and Europe were ordered to leave the hotel after Bank of East Asia (BEA) took possession of the property on Wednesday.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and unhappiness caused to the tourists," Au King-chi, Hong Kong commissioner for tourism, told reporters.

"We should have set up a counter at the hotel two or three hours after the incident took place to provide information to tourists on the prices and availability of hotel rooms nearby and arrange for transfer."

The guests were evicted following a prolonged battle between BEA and Labour Buildings, the company that runs the hotel, over an unpaid 80 million Hong Kong dollar ($A10.79 million) loan.

Labour Buildings, a former investment arm of the Taiwan's Kuomintang political party, said it had been originally granted the loan to curry favour with the party 10 years ago, the South China Morning Post reported.

The company issued a statement condemning BEA, saying the bank's actions were harmful to the tourism industry of the south Chinese city.

"Under no circumstances can the Bank of East Asia and the bailiffs drive hotel guests away. The bank's right to possession does not mean it can cold-bloodedly drive away hotel guests," it said.

The hotel would offer refund to guests who had already paid for their bookings, the statement added.

A spokeswoman for Bank of East Asia told AFP it had no comment to make.

"How could something like this happen in Hong Kong?" said a woman from mainland China who identified herself as Li, according to the Post.

She only discovered the problem when she arrived in Hong Kong on Wednesday evening with her three teenage daughters and was told she could not stay in the Tatami Hampton Hotel, situated in the bustling Mongkok area of the city.

A notice posted in the hotel lobby said that it had been taken over by lawyers representing the bank and the bailiff pursuing a court order, the report said. TV images showed the doors to the hotel bolted closed.

Hong Kong, which styles itself as "Asia's World City", spends millions of dollars every year attracting tourists from the mainland and across the world.

However, it was hit by a string of tourism scandals last year, when visitors on cheap package deals, often from mainland China, were forced to visit certain stores and strongly encouraged to buy goods before being allowed to leave.

50 guests ejected as hotel closes

A three-star Mong Kok hotel suddenly shut its doors last night throwing 50 guests onto the street.

Bailiffs served a closure order on the 108-room Tatami-Hampton Hotel in Changsha Street after the owner lost a court battle with Bank of East Asia, which was granted HK$82 million in damages.

Police were called to keep order as angry guests were forced to leave.

Fifty visitors were affected but by last night only 37 could be contacted.

Most guests booked through the internet.

Many were from the mainland but there were others from Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia, Italy, Singapore and Argentina. One was from Hong Kong.

One mainland visitor, who checked in just hours before he was thrown out, said he was surprised when he could not get into his room when he returned in the evening.

He said he knew no one in Hong Kong and his first concern was to find a place to spend the night.

Two sisters from Shanghai paid HK$3,000 for three nights. One said it was irresponsible of management to accept guests when they were fighting a lawsuit.

The 18-story hotel is close to tourist attractions including Tung Choi Street, Garden Street and Temple Street.

Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners executive director Michael Li Hon-shing said the incident underlined deficiencies in hotel grading. A budget establishment with some decoration and very simple facilities inside can easily call itself a hotel it gives tourists a wrong impression that hotels in Hong Kong are like that, he said.

A legal definition of different hotel gradings is important in guaranteeing the type and quality of services and facilities.

He said the only check on hotels is the Hotel and Guesthouse Accommodation Ordinance, which only monitors fire prevention in hotels.

But he said the way the hotel closed down is unacceptable and will affect Hong Kongs image.

Tatami Hampton Hotel closed down on 18 June 2008

With great surprise that after the a day of travelling within Hong Kong Island, I saw there are so many people carrying camera at the front doors of Tatami Hampton Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong.

At the beginning we were so excited that there might have some superstars in the mist of filming, but when we got closer, we discovered that were wrong, they are reporters.

Doors that going up to the hotel rooms were locked and only a small door to the reception area were left opened. I got to know from one senior uncle that this hotel has been handed over to the court and all guest have to leave the hotel immediately.

I was like "What?, the hotel that I stayed last night close shop?" I had a feeling at that time that we are going to find some place to stay on that night, and that was at about 10.00PM.

We know time is ticking, suddenly I saw a guest came out from the small doors, immediately more than 10 reporters were go near to him to ask questions.

I know that is a great timing, we walk straight into the hotel lobby.

I saw policemen all around; one guy came over to ask if I am guest of this hotel, and explain to me what was happened today.

The policemen were so helpful, and they speak in nice tone. I recorded my room number, contact information and I went up to pack my stuffs.

I made a call to one of my friend in Hong Kong, and he was so surprise. He is then helped me to look for any budget hotel room available nearby.

One of the policemen volunteers to lend me his personal mobile phone to make phone call when I requested to use phone at the front desk. He was then spoke to my friend and helped to take down the address of a hotel (Y.W.C.A.) nearby.

We took taxi to Y.W.C.A., check in and sigh!! We have a shelter now…

Arriving at New Jersey, the United States

Hello readers,

I am not sure how I’d actually gone through this approx 22 hours of flight journey.
The flight depart at abour 8:50AM KL time from KLIA. Its 12 hours flight with 1 breakfast about an hour after it departed. And about 2 and half hours before it arrives, they serve lunch. So in the between, I watched 3 movies provided by the aircraft entertainment system

Those are:

1) National Treasure 2

2) I am Legend

3) A cantonese movie by Eason Chan - Forgot the title

Ok, time to land on Stockhold - Sweden Internaltional Airport. The aircraft landed and we got out the plane, gone through the security checks, thats all. All pessengers have to stay in the transit hall with nothing else but toilet and a mini bar, for 1 and a half hour. The airport has no free WIFI service, that means you have to pay in order to use.

We all back in the aircraft and it take off to Newark NJ International Airport. This is 8 hours flight, and there are so many empty seats where I’d moved to the “center corner” seat.
Frankly, I have no memories on that 8 hours journey on the aircraft, it just like… flipped off !!Probably I’d just felt sleep, and it just gone, yes we landed again.

Great, I took cab, and I am back to hotel.

Bootup laptop, send email to inform that I am safely arrived.Take shower and ready to sleep, but I can’t sleep well in the hotel room, just don’t know why… ??
